Flood Safety Week ( 1st – 7thJune )
Bihar is India’s most severely flood affected state. The floods of 2004 and 2008 have rendered lakhs of people homeless and killing thousands. Flood in Bihar has become synonymous to disaster. BSDMA in its effort to spearhead the public awareness and preparedness mandate has planned to observe the first week of June, every year as the “Flood Safety Week” the state. The main objective of this week is to make aware the stakeholders of flood preparatory measures, Flood Risk Management and advocate for mitigation and risk reduction measures though a collective effort of all the stakeholder at different levels. The Authority executes several activities/programmes at state, district, block and panchayat level during the week.
